Cloth-Pattern Film Without the Maintenance: What PVC-Free Changes

Woven textile-effect wall covering sample

Fabric and cloth-effect surfaces sell interiors. They soften a room, they absorb the flatness of a painted wall, and in hospitality spaces they carry the design language from the soft furnishings onto the walls. What they do not do is survive a busy service environment: real textile stains, holds odour and cannot be wiped down.

Cloth-pattern decorative film solves that trade-off. The surface is a printed and embossed film rather than a woven textile, so it can be cleaned with a damp cloth while still reading as fabric from any normal viewing distance. The one caveat worth stating plainly: a film wall covering is a visual substitute for textile, not an acoustic one. If a project needs sound absorption, that has to come from the substrate.

What a PVC-free construction changes

Formulation: a PVC-free film replaces the PVC carrier with a polyolefin-based construction. For interiors where the specification is driven by material policy rather than by fire or durability performance, this is usually the deciding factor.

Same finishing options: the cloth-effect pattern is produced with the same print and emboss technology, so the visual result is comparable across a PVC and a PVC-free line.

Adhesive: water-based adhesive systems are used on the PVC-free range and are available on request for specific models, subject to the substrate and the end use.

Documentation: test reports for the individual model are issued to qualified buyers on request. Confirm the exact test and scope before writing a claim into a specification — we do not publish certification wording without the supporting document behind it.

Where cloth-effect finishes get specified

Hospitality corridors and guest-room feature walls, retail fitting rooms and display niches, residential living and bedroom walls, and cabinet or wardrobe fronts where the designer wants the finish to read as upholstery. In each case the practical driver is the same: the visual warmth of textile with a cleanable surface.

Roll width matters more than usual here. Fabric patterns repeat, and a visible join across a repeat is much harder to hide than a join in a plain field. Tell us the wall dimensions with the enquiry and we will confirm how the drops should be split.
