Global Shipping and Packaging Standards
Film is light but bulky - which means freight math, not weight, decides your landed cost. This is how we pack, load and document wholesale orders so rolls arrive exactly as approved.
Container loading is where film margins are made or lost: at 1.22 m width the goods cube out long before they weigh out. This guide documents our packing standards, container math and document flow so your forwarder prices accurately and your rolls arrive exactly as the swatches you approved.
1. Standard export packing
- Each roll is wrapped in a woven bag with end protectors; labels carry SKU, batch number, color code and roll length.
- Pallets: rolls stand vertically on export pallets, stretch-wrapped - vertical standing prevents flat-spot deformation during transit.
- Cartons for swatch sets and accessories; OEM carton print available on order-level programs (see the OEM guide).
- Documentation inside: packing list per pallet, batch map so every position in the container is traceable to a batch.
2. Container math - what fits
At 1.22 m width, a 20-ft container carries roughly 20,000-25,000 m depending on roll length mix; a 40-ft HC roughly 40,000-48,000 m. Actual loading plans are drawn per order once roll lengths are confirmed - send us your target quantity and we return a loading plan with the quotation. Freight class notes for forwarders: film rolls ship as general cargo, non-hazardous, non-DG.
3. Lead time flow
- Day 0: order confirmed - 30% deposit received, pattern/SKU list and approved masters locked.
- Day 1-15/20: production window standard for project orders. MOQ: in-stock items from 1 roll.
- Pre-shipment: batch photos against master samples + packing list sent for your confirmation before balance payment.
- Balance → shipment: 70% against documents, then booking and loading; B/L copy follows within days of sailing.
4. Documents we provide
| Document | When | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial invoice & packing list | With shipment documents set | SKU/batch level detail |
| B/L copy | After sailing | Telex release available |
| Certificate of origin | On request via CCPIT | Add 3-5 days |
| Test reports | On request, per shipment | D1500 SGS test report |
5. Delivered terms
We quote EXW, FOB Shanghai (default) and CIF/DAP case by case. For distributors consolidating multiple China suppliers, we deliver to your consolidator's warehouse within our region free of local haulage charges - coordinate cut-off with the contact page.
6. Receiving checklist - protect your claim rights
- Photograph the container doors and pallet condition before unloading - photos dated on arrival are the basis of any carrier claim.
- Check roll labels against the packing list SKU by SKU before unwrapping more than two rolls per SKU.
- Report shortages/damage within 7 days with photos; we replace or credit on confirmed claims - but claims need the arrival evidence.
- Keep batch samples: retain one short offcut per batch as the arbitration reference for the project file.
7. Sample-stage logistics
Swatch sets and short roll cuts move by international courier (DHL/FedEx) without formal export documents - the sample process guide covers this path. Production orders move by sea; air freight for urgent top-ups is quoted case by case.
8. The landed-cost mistake to avoid
Buyers comparing "FOB Shanghai per meter" quotes from different factories often ignore the cube: a quote with thinner packaging that loads fewer meters per container can be more expensive landed than a higher FOB quote that loads densely. Always normalize to landed cost per usable square meter - the pricing guide explains the comparison method.
